Woodblock

Designer: Craig Ward

One of my ideas for a logo was to create something that looked like woodblock as a way to represent the history of typography. I wanted to look at what type of fonts are most commonly used in woodblock in order to get the best representation. I found the fonts are mainly western. They are bold with exaggerated serifs.

In this piece, I particularly like how a mixture of different typefaces, point sizes and colours are used. This may be a little too much for my work however. I'm also not sure if this will convey the message I am looking for as it takes away some of the sophistication.
